How I Got Here

I’ve been crafting stories and poems since a young age, when I first wrote my Dad a personalised poem, aged 8 years old, based on his profession as a welder. I have always been an avid reader and always had a fascination with words,  an excellent command of English Language and more importantly, a great imagination! I continued to write poetry until I was around 17 years old. After that I was somewhat waylaid in my writing careers as life swept me up in all it had to offer.  After an eventful life experience around the age of 24, I decided to pick the pen up again and try to create poems around the events that had occurred in my life. That year I fully rekindled the writer inside and produced over 200 poems. In 2013 a large selection of these would later go on to be published on Amazon in my book titled ‘Is She’.  Since then I have been creating and writing poetry of all styles, subjects and content. I tend to gain my inspiration from everyday subjects or occurrences in life, whether good or bad! As Florence & The Machine said “I need to go to war to find material to sing”. I look at the world through a writer’s lens. I see stories in everyday life just waiting to be told and do my best to be the medium through which they reach the page. I don’t have a particular style of writing but a large majority of my work follows a rhyme scheme or specific meter or flow. I now work part time as a freelance writer and editor and I also specialise in personal poetry and stories which are available to purchase via Facebook.
To find out more about my work, please browse my newly updated Poetry Portfolio which contains a number of poems both past and present and cover a wide range of subjects. Please get in touch if you have any questions or comments regarding my poems, or if you would like to discuss working together on a project or private personalised poem. There is a comment section under each poem, and any feedback or comments are very welcome. Please also feel free to subscribe or check out my blog! X
